Kurt Aeberhard, 69, former CFO of Neuen Aargauer Bank, and his wife Ida, 68, view themselves as happily retired and have been living in the Aarau bonacasa apartment they own since 2014. Previously, they had a large family house which was also in the Scheibenschachen district. When they heard about plans for a development in the Aarenau area, they decided to find out more. We were aware that where we were living wouldn’t be ideal once we reached old age”, explains Kurt. “Along with the ground-floor location and threshold-free rooms, the thought of being able to use bonacasa services was the main factor in our decision.”

Right now, say the Aeberhards, they don’t need help, but at some point in the future it will be good to know that they can live in their own home for as long as possible. “We already use the cleaning and holiday services, and the more limitations old age places on us, the more services we’ll use”, they affirm. At the moment they’re healthy and sprightly, but forward planning is their motto. They really value face-to-face contact with the bonaConcierge, who visits the development once a week.

The bonacasa construction standard also played a major part in their decision, including the generous floorplan and high-quality materials. The couple got in touch as soon as the project was announced, and attended the information event back in June 2012. They wasted no time in reserving and buying their apartment on the top floor, with a view of the River Aare. “It’s a fabulous view – we love it”, they laugh.
