Utzenstorf has 4,210 inhabitants and has been part of the administrative district of Emmental since 1 January 2010. The commune nestles between the Alpine foothills and the Emmental, with the Wynigenberge to the East and the Solothurn Bucheggberg to the West, Chasseral mountain as a backdrop and to the North, Jura mountains Weissenstein, Rütifluh und Hasenmatt.
